Program Co-Chair of ER 2025
I had the great pleasure of serving as Program Co-Chair of the 44th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling (ER 2025), together with Shazia Sadiq from the University of Queensland and Roman Lukyanenko from the University of Virginia.
ER 2025 took place from October 20–23, 2025 in Poitiers / Futuroscope, France, under the theme "Building Trust Through Conceptual Modeling." The conference brought together the international conceptual modeling community to discuss both foundational research and the rapidly evolving role of modeling in areas such as AI, trustworthy systems, and modern data ecosystems.
The main research track received 106 submissions, from which 22 full papers were selected. The resulting program reflected the breadth of our field, with contributions on LLM-enabled modeling, ontologies, knowledge graphs, graph databases, process and data modeling, digital twins, and trustworthy AI. I particularly enjoyed seeing how strongly generative AI has entered the conceptual modeling research agenda while semantic foundations and rigorous modeling approaches continue to play a central role.

Serving as Program Co-Chair was a rewarding experience and a substantial team effort. Many thanks to Shazia, Roman, the Senior Program Committee, the Program Committee, all reviewers, and especially the authors for making ER 2025 such a strong edition of the conference.
It was great to meet many colleagues and friends from the conceptual modeling community again in Poitiers, and I am looking forward to seeing how the ideas presented at ER 2025 will develop further.
