PC Chair at PoEM'2020
From November 25th till November 27th the 13th IFIP WG 8.1 working conference on the Practice of Enterprise Modelling (PoEM) was held virtually and organized at RIga Technical University.
At PoEM'2020 I had the honour, for the first time in my academic career, to act as the general Co PC-Chair of the scientific program. Together with Janis Grabis from Riga Technucal University, we invited PC members, attracted a nice number of highquality submissions, orchestrated the review process, and compiled a ver nice program consisting of 19 Full and 7 Short Papers.
The conference was held virtually which demanded further planning in order to move the physical conference into the virtual space. The feedback gained from the participants was positive and also my personal reflection is very positive. As of now, PoEM'2020 was by far the most enjoyable and active virtual conference I attended (including e.g., MODELS'20, ER'20). A reason for this is, I think, the very close and neat community of enterprise modellers. Although it was sad to meet all my friends only virtually, it became clear from day 1 that for close communities like the one of PoEM, switching to a virtual setting seems much more feasible compared to larger and even more international (i.e., more inter-continental) conferences.
SoSyM Special Section #
For the first time, we were very happy for achieving an agreement with the SoSyM journal enabling us to realize a fast-track of the best PoEM'20 papers to be extended toward a journal publication. We believe this is a very important move in order to keep the enterprise modelling community active and recognized in the wider field of modeling.
